Free placement help for families across the Collin County area

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions families ask us most. Don’t see yours? Just call. We’re happy to help.

Is your senior placement service really free to families?

Yes. Quality Care Referral Network does not charge families for consultations, care searches, or placement assistance. Participating care providers pay us when a referral results in a move-in. Your family remains responsible for the provider’s normal housing, care, and other agreed charges, so always ask for written pricing before you sign.

Do I have to choose a care home you recommend?

No. You decide which homes and communities to visit and whether to move forward with any of them. Our job is to help you understand and compare your options, never to pressure you toward a particular provider.

Do you represent every care home in Collin County?

No referral service does. Our suggestions depend on provider relationships, available information, your loved one’s care needs, and current availability. Feel free to ask which providers are included in your search and whether a provider compensates us. You are always welcome to explore other options too.

Which areas do you serve?

Our search focuses on the Collin County area, including Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Richardson, Fairview, Prosper, Celina, Melissa, and Anna. Some of these cities extend into neighboring counties, so tell us the exact area you prefer and we will confirm whether we can help.

Can you help with Alzheimer’s or dementia care?

Yes. We help families explore providers that offer memory support and prepare questions about staffing, dementia training, supervision, and Alzheimer’s certification. The provider and your loved one’s clinical team decide whether a setting is appropriate.

What if we do not know what level of care is needed?

That is very common, and it is a good reason to call. We can explain the different care settings in plain language and suggest questions to bring to your loved one’s doctor. A provider assessment, and sometimes clinical input, is needed before admission.

How much does a care home cost in the Collin County area?

Costs vary with location, room type, care needs, and what is included in the monthly rate. We start with your budget and encourage you to get written pricing that covers the base rate, care charges, deposits, additional fees, and how increases are handled.

Will Medicare pay for assisted living?

Medicare generally does not pay for ongoing assisted living room and board or custodial personal care. Coverage for certain medical or skilled services is separate and depends on eligibility and program rules. Please verify benefits directly with the plan or agency before relying on any payment source.

Can we tour a care home before deciding?

Absolutely, and we encourage it. Touring lets you meet caregivers, feel the atmosphere, ask about daily routines and costs, and see whether the home feels right for your loved one before making a commitment.

Can you help after a hospital or rehabilitation stay?

Yes. We can help you explore residential options alongside your hospital discharge planner or rehab case manager. Medical readiness, the provider’s assessment, available space, and required documents all affect timing, so we cannot guarantee immediate placement.

Do you guarantee that a home is in compliance with state rules?

No referral service can guarantee ongoing compliance or future care outcomes. Dorothy’s 33 years in senior care help families ask informed questions, but state agencies oversee licensing and enforcement. Families should review current records and speak directly with each provider.

Can my loved one stay if their needs change?

It depends on the change, the provider’s license and capabilities, and applicable rules. Before signing, ask about reassessments, outside services, additional costs, and the circumstances that could require a move to another setting.

Can we contact you after the move?

Yes. You can reach out with referral-related questions any time. Daily care needs and urgent concerns should go directly to the provider and the appropriate health professionals.
